A lifelong passion for fashion led Ashley Brooks to become an Urban Darling wardrobe stylist. Ashley began accessorizing at an early age, getting into trouble for plundering her grandmother’s high-heels and clutch purses to jazz up her dress-up outfits! After a brief stint in pre-med, she channeled her creativity into a fashion design degree, opening the door to a 15-year career in apparel design/merchandising for several major corporations and retailers.
Ashley enjoys sharing her flair for mixing designer “high” with cheap-chic “low” and her knack for treasure-hunting with her clients…hence, her mantra: “Style is half WHAT you wear, and half HOW you wear it.” She believes that women of all ages, sizes, shapes and budgets can own fabulous style; helping her clients to discover their own unique potential is one of her biggest motivators!
Favorites: Ashley’s style icons are Audrey Hepburn and Joan Jett, a fact that helps to explain her chameleon-like approach to her own look. A passionate mid-century modern fan in both her home and her wardrobe, Ashley adores the nod to vintage that designer Trina Turk brings to her patternwork and colorways.

I reached a place in my life recently where every time I opened my closet, I got bored. None of my clothes were representing how I felt or how I wanted to feel about myself. I want my wardrobe to make me feel like the best version of myself everyday!! So, I called Ashley and she took me through my closet, piece by piece. I ended up with a very small wardrobe but it was so worth it! She was honest and kind about why things needed to go (they were not flattering, they did not put my best foot forward…) but also understood when I kept things for sentimental reasons. She was also great about putting outfits together with my existing clothes so I could put a fresh face on what I had. She helped me create a shopping list of things I would need to help my new look grow and reflect who I am. She was firm in all the right ways, not letting me fall back on unflattering but familiar habits! It was a great experience and I feel empowered now as I shop for my new wardrobe.
I highly recommend Ashley if you are looking for some fresh eyes on your clothes and some great ideas about how to make your clothes work for you!!

It was great to finally find someone to audit my closet in the Milwaukee area. Ashley was great . She not only audited my closet but showed me how some pieces I had could work well together. She gave me ideas that worked well for my looks and age. Hope, I could use her services more often.

I dream about Stacy and Clinton knocking on my door but when I watch the show I think many of the “after” outfits are just dowdy. I want to develop the confidence to dress every day. Not costume dressing but confident, clever, capable and livable that doesn’t include spandex.
