Three Ways To Wear: Tuxedo Jacket

Tuxedo jackets are a popular choice for parties and events throughout the holiday season.  However, for many women, they spend the rest of the year gathering dust in the closet.  The truth is, black and white has classic appeal, and this style can be worn all year long if you know what to pair it with.  So here are three easy ways to take your holiday tux jacket into spring…

1. With a maxi dress.  Nothing says spring like a colorful maxi dress!  Choose one with a simple, elegant silhouette and opt for a bright color that will complement the black and white jacket combo.  Dress this look down with embellished sandals and boho style handbag.  Add a super chic choker necklace that balances the neckline of your jacket and don’t forget a great pair of sunglasses if you’re running around during the day.

2. With dress shorts and a peplum top.  I’m a huge fan of pairing your jacket with shorts in the springtime.  With long sleeves on top you avoid looking too bare, and the overall effect is totally sophisticated.  If your jacket is well fitted (or even better, slightly cropped) it will go well over a subtle peplum.  Keep your look fairly neutral and aim for a pop of color with your accessories…try a ladylike pastel purse and some modern statement earrings.

3. With slouchy boyfriend jeans.  I’m obsessed with the slouchy jeans/tailored jacket combo.  I love the idea of dressing up casual boyfriend jeans with pointed pumps and a stylish jacket.  (For a fresh take on the pumps, try a block heel version.) Layer your jacket over a simple tee in a bright color and add interest with a statement necklace.  Top off with a metallic bag for a fun, fashion forward look.
