PROOF that trends take at least 2 years to hit the ‘scene’. We posted this blog on 11/6/08 on Urban Darling. Thought we’d repost to show how fashion forward WE are.
Sunshine and roses? Pretty. A strappy little Manolo? Pretty. Current state of our economy? Getting prettier. Really, a bit too 1929 for my taste. So does this mean we, the consumer nation, must give up all shopping? No my darlings, it does not. Does it mean we have to learn to stretch that buck like a pair of Spanx? Yes, it does. Herewith, a few ideas on how to shop smart, shop less and recession-proof your closet.
Well, you knew this was coming. The official holiday post from yours truly (that would be the darling Tanya Roth). Will I discuss something useful like what to wear to a cocktail party (black skinny pants, white shirt, narrow black jacket, heels, bright clutch)? No. Will I suggest the most stylish gift to give your best girlfriend ? No. Let’s talk about the best Christmas movie of all time. It’s A Wonderful Life? Heck no. The Bishop’s Wife.
As we all continue to tighten our skinny or wide, waist cinching belts, some of you may be wondering what, if any, use a wardrobe consultant or stylist could possibly be in your life. Really, isn’t this a little self indulgent, or at best a luxury to be sought after in the boom times? No my darlings, I am sure it will shock you to hear that I beg to differ. Further, I will now present you with my suggestions outlining why you might actually want to reach for the Urban Darling hotline, now more than ever. (Uh, o.k. we …
