Met Gala: Punk Princesses and just plain PUNK’D

So I know I’m a little late to the party, but if you haven’t heard, Hollywood and High Street met up for Monday night’s annual Costume Institute Met Gala where the theme was “PUNK: Chaos to Couture.”

And as always there were some celebs who rocked it, and some who, well looked like they got Punk’d. [Read more...]

Work style that’s still YOUR style

Once in a while someone I know requests a special blog to help them out with style issues that we all face, and I’m more than happy to oblige.

This is one of those time and the topic in particular is something that has taken me a while to figure out – work style.

9 Types of Style – Type VII – Boho & Gypsy

bohoThis is one of my favorite types of style, free, inspired and original.

Women with a Boho & Gypsy style embody the free spirit love child mentality while still keeping things tasteful and chic.  Think long flowy skirts, scarves, layered necklaces and nose piercings.

Sexy and bold

Ladies with this style are no strangers to the word ENTRANCE. They know how to work the sidewalk like a runway and you’d never be able to call them boring or bland. They love loud colours, bold prints, daring cuts, bling and feathers.

Wild Wild West.. in your closet

Being from the Southwest [shout-out to my ABQ], and a cowgirl at heart (even though I’m now an urban SF resident) it was only natural that every summer I get the urge to throw on a wild print with a pair of cowboy boots or grab a fringe sweater off the rack even though it will be over 100 degrees in a few months. Daring Digits – 5 nail trends to try now!

Chambray the RIGHT way

Denim, denim everywhere but no idea how to rock it! This is the problem I’ve seen most recently from my best friends to our Urban Darling clients. They absolutely LOVE the look of the “new denim” shirt that’s been popping up everywhere but they aren’t sure if it’s the right look for them, and if it is how they can incorporate it into their everyday wardrobes. 5 Must-haves for your SPRING wardrobe

  1. A LWD (aka Little White Dress) – Nothing says spring has sprung better than a flowy, fluttery and totally effortless little white dress. Perfect for everything from nights on the town (add a blazer and pumps) to checking out the farmer’s market on a lazy Sunday with the hubby. Love the cut out versions that are just SO in right now.
  2. Printed denim- after seeing the floral printed denim available at Madewell in SF’s Westfield center and falling absolutely IN LOVE with about 15 pairs I realized these are definitely a must this season. Skinnies are available in just about every pattern from muted leopard print to bright floral and back again. Choose one that works for your style and keep the rest of the outfit neutral with a chunky scarf and crisp button-up or tee.
  3. An Aztec inspired maxi- I love the slew of Aztec-y prints that hit the runway for this season’s tops and dresses. I especially love the look of them on a nice fitted maxi-dress. If you’re going to let the dress do the talking pair with some fabulous sandals and a nice collar necklace.
  4. BANGLES, BANGLES and more BANGLES- who doesn’t love an arm full of bangles to get them feeling hippie chic? Not me that’s for sure and the MORE the better. Combo skinny and chunky bangles on both arms mixing metals, turquoise or stone and adding materials like rope or ribbon keeps the look young, fun and carefree- perfect for all your spring attire.
  5. A great side bag- I’m loving the look of slouchy accessories that continues to be a trend this season! Adding a great side bag is perfect for a fashionista on the go and a great leather piece is an investment that will last you long after the April showers and May flowers have disappeared.
