Style Statement

My love for fashion began early, as a little girl, I loved watching my mom dress up for parties, apply sooty mascara and walk out of the house in vertiginous heels, her hair piled high in a Bardot-like teased chignon. My school uniforms were tailor made as well as my weekend clothes. This early awareness for fit and material has stayed with me.

Early in college, I took a History of Film course, that revealed to me style heroines that remain an inspiration. Women of the New Wave–Anna Carina, Jeanne Moreau, Jean Seberg. And such international icons of beauty and style as Catherine Deneuve, Audrey Hepburn, Jane Birkin. All of these women possessed a magnetic presence and each had a very unique style. This give me the inspiration to find my own personal point of view on how to express my individual style through clothes, hair, make-up, and accessories. Not to imitate, but to create.

Once I picked my major to be, interior design, one of my classes on 20th century design opened up the world of collectible vintage furniture and from there to vintage clothes. Iʼd collect vintage Vogues and Harper Bazaars to get my fill of the languorous 1930s society swans, 50s bombshells, and the fantastic plastic 60s girls.

After becoming a dealer of 20th century design my focus shifted to vintage costume jewelry. I launched my e-boutique, Sasha Maks Vintage in 2009.I was enthralled by the possibilities of changing up a look and making it all your own with just a few glam accessories, like a faux turquoise and rhinestone bib and an armful of cuffs and gem studded bangles.

My jewelry business led me to personal and fashion styling. First for fashion shows and look books, and then putting looks together for my clients who wanted to know what to wear their baubles with.

Iʼm passionate about fashion and style. I want you to realize your innate beauty, to find and express your unique style, to feel your most confident. Taking into consideration your body type, lifestyle, and personality, I guide you to make the best of your assets. Only choose what flatters and emphasizes your strengths.

Everyone is an individual, and while I keep a close eye on trends, the most valuable thing for a client is to have a personal stylist who will know how to interpret her history and experiences into a individual fashion sensibility.

With my help, you will conquer you closet, discover the silhouettes, fabrics and colors that suit you best, and have a myriad of complete, versatile looks that will take your from the office to date night in your trademark style. Dressing becomes pure joy and fun!

Client Testimonials

“I was able to get my wife an awesome birthday gift with Sasha’s help! After having twins, my wife was so busy with taking care of the babies, she didn’t make time for herself. I was able to get Sasha to handle literally everything. She did a full closet review with my wife, separated out all the outfits that were not the appropriate style for my wife and then made an amazing plan with a concierge shopping trip and later a joint shopping trip. My wife was amazed at how Sasha was able to pick the latest hot styles as well as things that my wife wanted for her own style. In her words Sasha was ‘as good as getting a celebrity stylist from Hollywood catering to you, it was amazing.'” -Jeffery

“Sasha has completely knocked my socks off.  I’m no slouch in the fashion department, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from working with her. But she exceeded all of my expectations. She is extremely talented at styling.  She helped me pull some beautiful, sexy outfits together from clothes I already had in my closet. More importantly, she’s helping me pull together a complete look for myself including hair and makeup. I always feel beautiful and pretty when I wear an outfit styled by Sasha.

Sasha also did a closet audit for me recently and she’s helping me build a wardrobe of clothes I love, but that suits my lifestyle, too.  I am slowly working on purchasing these investment pieces and then I will have Sasha come back again to help me create more looks and outfits.

What else can I say? I will warn you that working with her can be addictive. I asked her very last minute to do a virtual shopping session for a holiday outfit complete with hair and makeup. I gave her one idea, but she took it and gave a modern twist. I loved it!

Sasha is amazing: fabulous eye, hard working and easy to work with too. I highly recommend working with her.” -Maria

“I’m so grateful for Sasha! In April 2014, I was on my way to Paris for a week and was totally unsure of what to wear while in the fashion capital of the world. Sasha spent a few hours with me one afternoon and created unique and stylish outfits from what I already had in my closet. The outfits were perfectly in line with my personal style, and I could easily transition from day to night with a simple article transition. I was comfortable and fashionable by day and fabulous by night! In addition to creating perfect outfits from my existing wardrobe, Sasha also made recommendations on items that I could buy in Paris to easily transition my wardrobe into the next season.” -Kathleen

“I loved working with Sasha – she helped me style a few looks for the holiday season by putting pieces that I already own together in ways that I never would have thought of.    A few weeks later, a closet audit resulted in a donation pile of items that were just dated and needed to be refreshed.   She also gave me great advice on how to tailor some of my clothes to make them more modern.   At the end she put together a list of items to shop for that will transform my office wardrobe into something more sophisticated by mixing in new layering pieces and accessories.   She also gave me some tips for how to shop places like Target, H&M, etc. to score designer collaborations on a budget.

A few months later  I had a follow up session with her and she created 20 new looks, some of which I tried on, some of which she just mixed/matched and laid out to photograph.   Those have now become the “flashcards” that I use each morning when getting dressed and it’s given me confidence to get creative in putting together my own looks.

Invite Sasha into your closet and open up some champagne to enjoy the transformation process with her – I can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon.” -Jennifer
