Spring Trend: Military Inspired

In my final installment on my fave five trends for spring, I’m going to cover the military-inspired trend. Check out previous weeks posts on how to wear gingham, fringe, a polo shirt and culottes.

Seen on the Spring 2015 runways of at Marc Jacobs, Gucci, and Yigal Azrouel, I have always admired this trend,( see how I styled my Uniqlo safari dress here and my military green trench here).
Who can resist the androgynous sex appeal of YSL muse Betty Catroux in a lace front khaki tunic (it was based on a uniform worn by the French army in the Algerian war) with thigh high boots and a wide, low-slung belt. And speaking of sex appeal, Verushka posing for Vogue Paris in 1968 wearing the  same tunic is iconic. But I digress, the best part of this trend, besides its’ impressive precedents, is it’s utilitarian chic appeal and versatility.

The look is streamlined and neutral and lends itself to luxe accessories. Glam up a safari dress with gold- tone extras. Wear cargo pants with a boho top  and pair an army jacket with a sweet chiffon dress.
